This glitch lets you clone Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Items can be duplicated as well!

What you need to know

  • Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of the Generation 4 games on the Nintendo DS.
  • Players have found a way to clone Pokémon in the games, using another as a sacrifice.
  • The glitch also allows for items such as Master Balls to be cloned.

Fans of Pokémon generally race to see how fast they can break new games after their release. Only a few days after the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, players have figured out how to clone both Pokémon and items such as the coveted Master Ball, which ensures a 100% catch rate when used on a wild Pokémon.

First discovered by @kevinfor5 on Twitter, the cloning glitch involves placing Pokémon in the Battle Box while at the Day Care center in Solaceon Town. Be warned, however, as you will need to sacrifice one Pokémon in order to get this glitch to work. You could just head to an early route in the game and catch a few Starly though, so you won’t have to give up any Pokémon you’ve worked hard to raise. Just don’t think about where the Starly are ending up, and you’ll be fine.

Players will most likely use these to clone and trade all of the version exclusive Pokémon found in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, such as the legendary flagship Pokémon, Dialga and Palkia. Beware, however, as some glitches may cause corrupt save files. Luckily, there is a way to revert your game to a previous save if this happens to you.

Let’s go, Sinnoh!
