Check out this hilarious ‘Ted Lasso’ SAG Awards pep talk

What you need to know

  • Apple TV+ show Ted Lasso is up for a SAG Award.
  • A new sketch will air during the awards.

This teaser is just a taste of what’s to come.

Ted Lasso has found itself as the poster child for Apple TV+ of late and the show is up for a SAG Award early next month. A special Ted Lasso sketch will air as part of the awards show and we have our first teaser as to what we should expect.

Shared by EW, the teaser is part of a longer two-minute video that will air during the SAG Awards ceremony on April 4. It features the star of the show talking to his team as he tries to rally the troops ahead of the award announcements.

“We’ve got a big night ahead of us,” says Ted to his assembled players, as Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), Assistant Coach Nate the Great (Nick Mohammed), and AFC Richmond’s owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) listen in. Coach Lasso notes that the competition in the category — Dead to Me, The Flight Attendant, Schitt’s Creek, and The Great — is “tougher than ice-cold beef jerky.” While fans will need to watch the SAG Awards to see the full sketch, EW can confirm that the video contains several laugh-out-loud moments, including a brilliant declaration from temperamental player Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein).

Ted Lasso is up for an award in the ‘Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series’ category. The 27th annual SAG Awards will air on Sunday, April 4 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT and can be watched on TNT and TBS.

With the second season of Ted Lasso set to cause a stir when it lands this tear, maybe it’s time to treat yourself to a new TV for Apple TV so you can watch in style? You do want to enjoy the fun in glorious 4K and HDR, don’t you?
